Dear fellow PVARC members,
The PVARC's January meeting last Thursday was our 1st-ever to meet on a January 2nd. Thank you to everyone who came right after New Year's Day...we learned a lot from Brian Johnson, AB6UI, about helium-filled ballooning using amateur radio for tracking.
At the February 6th PVARC monthly meeting we'll have Terry Dennison, K9TAD from Pacific Palisades, present about HF propagation, sun spots, and the solar cycle. We'll also elect our Feb. 2020--Feb. 2021 officers and directors by voice affirmation as there were no other nominations from the floor at our January 2nd meeting.
Our weekly K6PV repeater nets resume tonight, with the analog FM net at 7:30 pm (447.120 MHz, - , Tone Squelch, PL 100.0; 2-meter west-side crossband on 144.910 MHz, Tone Squelch, PL 156.7) and the DMR digital net at 8:00 pm (447.120 MHz RX, 442.120 TX, Color Code 1, Time Slot 2, Talkgroup 31060). Please check in or either or both nets and say hello to start the New Year.
Meanwhile, our member Walt Ordway, K1DFO, is about to conduct perhaps his biggest ham radio license classes ever--but not at Hesse Park. He'll be teaching onsite to an expected 40 to 50 Los Angeles International Airport employees on January 14 and 21 during working hours. A team of Volunteer Examiners is being assembled to handle all the testing.
Lastly, if you haven't already renewed your PVARC membership for 2020 please download our membership renewal form at: http://www.n6rpv.net/n6rpvpage/pvarc/membership_form.pdf or renew in person at our February meeting.
Have a great week and 73,
Diana, AI6DF
