Dear fellow PVARC members,
Our weekly K6PV repeater nets are tonight at 7:00 pm for the DMR net and 7:30 pm for the analog net...please check in and say hello.
Given concern for avoiding further contagion of the COVID-19 coronavirus many of us 60+ years of age will likely be staying more at home, though still going out. At least we have amateur radio to connect us with others, so let's get on the air.
At this point I am unaware of any amateur radio clubs in the Los Angeles area that have canceled meetings or events, however some official disaster communication groups have postponed near-term major gatherings in an abundance of caution The PVARC will take into account any County Health Department or City advisories regarding COVID-19 before holding our April 2nd monthly meeting.
At last week's monthly meeting we enjoyed hearing Arnie Shatz, N6HC, describe Pitcairn Island in the South Pacific where mutineers from the HMS Bounty settled in 1793 and an international group of hams staged a successful DXpedition in Fall 2019. Arnie has another talk about serving as a DXpedition physician, having been in that role on 14 major DXpeditions to remote locations around the world and we might have that presentation at a later date.
Last but not least, this Saturday our HF Enthusiasts Group meets at the Palos Verdes Library's Peninsula Center branch in the Purcell Room from 10:00 am to Noon. All are welcome to attend.
73,
Diana, AI6DF
