Dear fellow PVARC members,

Our April 2019 QRO newsletter is attached as a PDF for your reading. This issue has useful information about Digital Mobile Radio (DMR), the new K6PV DMR dual-mode repeater, and obtaining an understanding of DMR.  If all this DMR-speak doesn't make any sense now it will soon.

Our commitment to providing PVARC members with DMR educational resources goes into high gear at our May 2 monthly meeting.  That's when we start bringing to each month's meeting a notebook computer capable of programming at no cost any of the three DMR radio models PVARC will be supporting (see the April QRO issue for details.)

But before our May meeting, the PVARC's next meeting at Hesse Park is this Thursday, April 4, at 7:30 pm when we debut a new video about the K6PV/6 February 2019 DXpedition to Catalina Island's village of Two Harbors.  As we've said previously, unlike in Las Vegas what happens on Catalina Island doesn't stay on Catalina...so do come to watch and see some of the "firsts" we experienced this year.

Our weekly club net is tonight at 7:30 pm in analog FM on the K6PV repeater, 447.120 MHz, - , Tone Squelch, PL 100.0 with the usual cross-link on 144.910 MHz, Tone Squelch, PL 156.7 for those on the Palos Verdes west side.  Please check in and say hello.  I will try checking in from San Pedro where the Los Angeles Area Council of Amateur Radio Clubs is holding its bi-monthly meeting.  Starting at 8:00 pm tonight we'll also have a separate DMR net on K6PV for those so equipped (447.120 MHz RX; 442.120 TX; Color Code 1;  Time Slot 2:  PVARC Talk Group (TG 31060).  If you have DMR capability please only use Analog FM on K6PV between 7:15-8:00 pm. each Tuesday...and those with Analog only please refrain from using Analog during 8:00-8:45 pm when the DMR net is active.

Have a great week and hope to see you Thursday evening at Hesse Park.

73,

Diana, AI6DF
