Dear fellow PVARC members,
Although we didn't hold a monthly meeting on July 4th we all felt the 6.4 and 7.1 magnitude earthquakes in the upper Mojave Desert. Please ensure your radio equipment, power sources, and other supplies are ready to go if there's a major incident affecting your area...and do consider joining one of the official city or county disaster amateur radio groups if you aren't already affiliated. (Please contact me if you need to know which group serves your area.)
Next month's special meeting at Hesse Park on August 1 has two features: a new video presentation I am assembling about 2019 Field Day throughout the ARRL Los Angeles Section (with some innovative ideas and new locations this year) and a new presentation about International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend on August 16-18.
Our weekly K6PV repeater nets are tonight at 7:30 pm for the analog FM net on 447.120 MHz, Tone Squelch, PL 100.0 with the usual 2-meter cross-band link for those on the Palos Verdes Peninsula's west side (144.910 MHz simplex, Tone Squelch, PL 156.7) followed at 8:00 pm by the DMR digital net (447.120 MHz RX, 442.120 MHz TX, Time Slot 2, Color Code 1, Talkgroup 31060.) Please check in and say hello on either or both nets
Lastly, this Saturday morning the PVARC's HF Enthusiasts Group holds its monthly meeting at the Palos Verdes Library main branch from 10:00 am to Noon in the Purcell Room. All are welcome whether to present something or just observe.
Have a great week and 73,
Diana, AI6DF
