Dear fellow PVARC members,
Our October QRO newsletter is attached as a downloadable PDF for your reading. We hope you can attend the PVARC's monthly meeting this Thursday at Hesse Park when noted telecommunications attorney Jonathan Kramer, W6JLK, of Santa Monica speaks about how governmental units and antenna permits align (or don't.) Jonathan heads a leading telecom law firm with offices in Los Angeles and San Diego. Page 2 in the QRO has additional information about him.
In the meantime, our weekly K6PV nets are tonight at 7:30 pm (analog portion) and 8:00 pm (DMR digital)...please check in and say hello. As mentioned last week, the K6PV repeater will undergo some technical enhancements in the near future that might result in impaired signal paths for some operators over a two-week period. Gary Lopes, WA6MEM, is heading our enhancement effort and advises K6PV will be temporarily moved from next Tuesday, October 8, to no later than October 22. K6PV will continue operating on the air during this period although with a lower antenna height than at K6PV's regular site. We'll advise when K6PV makes its temporary move and returns to its normal site.
Lastly, as noted in the October QRO seats are still available for no-cost Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training by Los Angeles County Fire Department instructors. The classes will be at Hesse Park during three Saturdays, October 5-12-19--so act quickly. This valuable training can help you, your family, and neighbors better deal with disaster situations. I took CERT at Hesse Park in 2005 and continue to marvel at the usefulness of this nationally-standardized 21-hour training. Please see the flyer on page 12 in this month's QRO and sign up by sending an email to: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Have a great week and 73,
