Dear fellow PVARC members,
The PVARC provided communication at last Saturday's Palos Verdes Half Marathon/10K/5K using our K6PV repeater's recent enhancements: the new receiver pre-amplifier for weaker signals and ability to lock the repeater into "Analog Only" mode as needed. All went very well at this year's Half Marathon. Many thanks to our operator team along the route, at net control, and to Steve Collins, KI6TEQ, for coordinating our coverage. Also last Saturday our ham license test session at Hesse Park headed by Jerry Shaw, KI6RRD, resulted in nine new Technician, four General, and two Extra licenses earned. These followed the November 2-9 license classes taught by Walt Ordway, K1DFO.
We're still taking reservations for our December 12th Holiday Dinner at Los Verdes Golf Course...please get your reservations in by our December 2nd guest count deadline. Our Holiday Dinner RSVP form is attached as a PDF. If you need just one more incentive to attend besides all our ham radio door prizes, excellent buffet food, and great conversation be advised this is the only day of the year PVARC members will see Diana, AI6DF, wearing makeup and a dress (yes, true.)
Our weekly K6PV repeater nets are tonight so please check in and say hello (7:30 pm for analog, 8:00 pm on DMR). We're really interested in learning how well the new pre-amplifier helps throughout our area, especially with many members living in canyon or ridgeline-shielded areas.
Have a great week and 73 to all,
Diana, AI6DF
