Dear fellow PVARC members,
We hope everyone at last week's PVARC Holiday Dinner enjoyed the evening as well as the presentation and prizes. We had a smaller than usual turnout due to members having travels or illness last week but it was still a lively evening. Our Board will soon be deciding on plans for next year's dinner.
For our upcoming QRO newsletter (to be issued around Dec. 30) I would appreciate receiving your photos from the Holiday Dinner. I only took one picture as our room was being set up and then got pre-occupied with other things. So...please send me any photos you deem worthwhile.
Our final K6PV repeater nets for 2019 are tonight--we'll instead be observing Christmas Eve on Dec. 24 and New Year's Eve on Dec. 31. Please check in and say hello this evening at 7:30 pm for the analog FM net (447.120 MHz, - , Tone Squelch, PL 100.0; west side crossband on 144.910 MHz simplex, Tone Squelch, PL 156.7) and/or the DMR digital net at 8:00 pm (447.120 MHz RX, 442.120 MHz TX, Color Code 1, Time Slot 2, Talk Group 31060.) After tonight our nets resume on January 7, 2020.
Lastly, our January club meeting at Hesse Park sneaks up very quickly on January 2. We'll still have our "What's Next?" group for newer hams and others at 6:30 pm, followed by the regular meeting at 7:30 pm when Brian Johnson, AB6UI, returns for a presentation about helium-filled balloons with onboard amateur radio. As a member of the Hughes Amateur Radio Club Brian has worked with students in the Compton schools to get them involved with amateur radio using these balloon launches.
73 and I wish everyone a wonderful holiday season,
Diana, AI6DF
