Dear fellow PVARC members,
Starting with next week's PVARC nets (February 25) we'll be switching the DMR portion to operate from 7:00-7:25 pm, followed by the analog net as usual at 7:30 pm. Our Board decided this change would enable more check-ins on the DMR net vs. the current time at 8:00 pm.
But tonight (February 18) our K6PV repeater nets will use the existing schedule: analog net from 7:30-7:50 pm (with 2-meter cross-band) followed by the DMR net at 8:00 pm. If the new DMR time at 7:00 pm starting February 25 proves not to be worthwhile we'll consider other ideas or revert to the previous schedule.
Last Friday/Saturday I attended the Yuma Hamfest & ARRL Southwestern Division Convention in Yuma, AZ. Although I didn't win any prizes I did attend a very useful session about the mechanics to create online training courses for amateur radio clubs (i.e., any subject such as how to program DMR radios, test antennas, etc., etc.) I will be investigating this further and hopefully we can have some videos linked with our website.
Although it's nearly 10 months away: today we booked our 2020 Holiday Dinner for Thursday, December 3, at Los Verdes Golf Course in Rancho Palos Verdes. We be posting more information about it starting in September.
Lastly, don't forget our March 5 monthly meeting when noted DXer and DXpedition team physician Arnie Shatz, N6HC, will be speaking to us about last Fall's Pitcairn Island DXpedition in the South Pacific.
Have a great week and 73 to all,
Diana, AI6DF
