Dear fellow PVARC members,

We have a new PVARC special interest group video conference next Saturday, April, 18, from 10:00-11:00 am.  Following last Saturday's HF Enthusiasts Group meeting successfully via the Webex video platform this week we'll test a PVARC EmComm Interest Group.

Many new hams enter amateur radio for emergency communication and we hope to share practical advice from operators experienced in serving public agencies or operating at public service events.  Earthquakes are the major disaster threat for most cities in our area, per city Hazard Mitigation Plans.   But earthquakes strike without the advance warning hurricanes, floods, many tornadoes, or severe weather have--with earthquakes you are either ready and prepared, or you aren't.

The Webex meeting invitation will be sent to all this Friday.  You do not need a lot of equipment to participate:  I hosted last Saturday's HF Enthusiasts Group meeting using just a 9.7" iPad Air 2 (2016 model) with ear buds, the free Webex iOS app, and home WiFi (Webex also works with Windows, Mac, Android, and most Linux distributions).  Or you can use your web browser.

In the meantime our weekly K6PV repeater nets are tonight, 7:00 pm for the DMR net and 7:30 pm for the analog FM net.   Hope to hear you then.

73,

Diana, AI6DF
