Dear fellow PVARC members,

Our next meeting on June 6 has an interesting presentation on "Ground Is A Myth" by Kristen McIntyre, K6WX.  She'll be speaking to us from the San Francisco Bay area via a Skype video connection and her talk will change some of the ways in which you think of radio grounds.  Kristen is also ARRL Vice Director for the Pacific Division (Northern California, Nevada, and Pacific Islands) as well as a senior engineer at Apple, Inc.

Tonight at 7:30 pm our weekly analog net will be on the K6PV repeater (447.120 MHz, Tone Squelch, PL 100.0, with the usual 2-meter simplex cross-link on 144.910 MHz,, Tone Squelch, PL 100.0), followed by a digital DMR net at 8:00 pm.  Please check in and say hello or either or both nets.

The PVARC's plans for Field Day (June 22-23) got organized on May 18 during a well-attended meeting at the home of Rocco Lardiere, N6KN.  We'll have more info about Field Day in our upcoming QRO newsletter which will be sent early next week.

Lastly, if you are available for a worthy public service event...the Southern California Special Olympics on Saturday-Sunday, June 8-9, at California State University Long Beach needs additional amateur radio operators.  If available either day please register with Special Olympics at https://2019-summergames-volunteer.my-trs.com/ and follow the simple instructions shown in the attached PDF (note: the registration deadline for amateur radio operators has been extended beyond the May 8 date shown in the attachment.)  All you need is an HT radio covering the 440 band.

Have a great week and 73 to all,

Diana, AI6DF
