Dear fellow PVARC members,
Our next monthly meeting at Hesse Park is Thursday, September 5, when the topic is "Understanding Digital Mobile Radio (DMR)." We hope many of DMR's aspects will become demystified for you and perhaps you will further explore DMR.
Our weekly Tuesday night K6PV nets now have a lively DMR portion starting at 8 pm, conducted in a round-table format. Before that at 7:30 pm tonight we have our analog FM net with the usual 144.910 MHz cross-band link for those on the Palos Verdes westside. Please check in tonight on either or both nets and say hello.
During the long Labor Day weekend the monthly W6TRW Swap Meet at Northrop Grumman in North Redondo Beach will be this Saturday from 7:00-11:30 am. Gary Lopes WA6MEM and I will be at the ARRL booth so perhaps we'll see you there. Then on Labor Day morning Walt Ordway K1DFO is leading our amateur radio coverage of the 11th annual Conquer the Bridge run/walk across the Vincent Thomas Bridge over Los Angeles Harbor. It's the only time each year when people may walk or run across this bridge which otherwise has no sidewalks or pedestrian access. Our operators will be on the bridge at multiple locations, along Pacific Avenue in San Pedro, and on Terminal Island.
Finally, our September QRO newsletter will be emailed to your inbox early next week with more info about our monthly meeting topic.
Have a great weekend and 73 to all,
Diana, AI6DF
