Dear fellow PVARC members,
Our November QRO newsletter is attached as a downloadable PDF for your reading. We hope you can attend Thursday night's monthly meeting at Hesse Park to learn about Pt. Vicente Lighthouse's history from Kim Castrobran of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Kim's father, Eric Castrobran, has also long been associated with Pt. Vicente Lighthouse through the Coast Guard and Coast Guard Auxiliary as its modern-day Lighthouse Keeper after the lighthouse was automated in the 1970's.
As also mentioned in the QRO newsletter, we are taking reservations for our Dec. 6 Holiday Dinner at Los Verdes Golf Course...with our reservation count due on November 26. We'll again have a great array of amateur radio prizes after the buffet dinner, along with an interesting speaker, and presentation of this year's W6AM Rhombic Award for PVARC service. Last week our buffet menu increased with fresh fruit platters now augmenting our two "salad" choices. Dinner reservations can be made by mail or at this month's Hesse Park meeting.
Our weekly net is tonight at 7:30 pm on the K6PV repeater and cross-banded onto 144.910 MHz, Tone Squelch, PL 156.7 for those on the Peninsula's west side. Please check in if you can and say hello.
Lastly, Walt Ordway K1DFO begins his next round of amateur radio license classes at Hesse Park this Saturday (Technician at 9:30 am; General at 1:30 pm). Please advise your friends and relatives who might be interested getting into ham radio.
Have a great week and I look forward to seeing you at Thursday evening's monthly meeting.
73,
Diana, AI6DF
